Getting back into it.

Hey all. It's been too long. I am finding I will have some extra time in the next coming months, so not only will I try to keep the blog up and running, but I would love to share advice with you on my knitting an jewelry adventures. I also need to get back into the whole healthy body thing. The gym misses me I'm sure, but I don't miss it much... I'm thinking I will change my mind once I get back into the swing of things.

Wish me luck!

Felted Cap - My Difficult Journey

I have always thought of myself as a pretty good knitter, but I started knitting a hat that I found in a pattern book. The second I saw it, I fell in LOVE and knew I had to make it. I bought some wool (wool is the best yarn for felting) and embarked on the journey of starting a new project.

I didn't realized until I got about halfway into the pattern that I had to try something new. The front of the hat is made using short rows. My friend, Madeline, and I tried to figure it out. I think we got it, but we'll see how far I get this week. I even woke up this morning exhausted! I had a dream that I had to do short rows all night! I woke up with nothing actually knitted and a wish to go back to sleep.

Wish me luck!

My latest creation!

I have finally figured out how I want to finish the purse I have been knitting. The pattern that I created had started out as a long rectangle with a stitch change in the middle to become the bottom. I didn't know how I would add sides or handles, until I had a revelation! I can either knit or sew together a long piece of fabric to attach at one end and bring all the way to the other side! It will work great! Hopefully I can finish it soon and then I will post pictures for you to see!

Keep it simple! =]

A Short Overview

My name is Kadine. I am a full time student at the Art Institute of Seattle studying to get my BFA in Interior Design. I work for a Seattle Interior Design firm and a few hours a week in our resource library at school. I have always been artistic, and I love sharing and collaborating with others.

I have an extensive range of hobbies. My first love is knitting and crocheting. I love to knit scarves and hats for my friends and family. I was even as ambitious as to knit myself a sweater! In high school, I took several art classes and enjoy painting with acrylics. A close friend of mine recently introduced me into jewelry making as well. (You can check out a sampling of my work at kadinelouse.etsy.com)

Another passion of mine has recently become organic cooking. I love baking pies and cheesecakes, but I try to keep my food as fresh and healthy as I can whenever possible. Call me a naturalist or whatever, but organics just flat out taste better! Some people argue with me about being a hippie for being such a strong believer in organic foods, but read any article on the subject and you will find that it is probably the best choice you can make to keep you healthy.

The intent of this blog is to share my interests with others, like many other blogs you've probably read, but I intend to "bring back simplicity."
